ABE vs Menace V2: Which Pre-Workout Is Best in the UK?

If you're choosing between Applied Nutrition ABE and Naughty Boy Menace V2, the short answer is this: both contain 200 mg caffeine per serving, but ABE adds 3 g creatine and a larger 4 g dose of citrulline malate in a 12.5 g scoop, while Menace V2 uses a smaller 7 g scoop with 3 g citrulline malate plus tyrosine, taurine and a longer list of extras, and works out cheaper per serving in its 420 g tub. Below we compare caffeine, key ingredients, servings, sizes, flavours and price per serving using the details on our own product pages.

Caffeine: the same 200 mg in each

On caffeine there is nothing to separate them. ABE contains 200 mg caffeine per 12.5 g scoop, and Menace V2 contains 200 mg caffeine per 7 g scoop.

Both are high-caffeine products and are not recommended for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women. The commonly cited guidance is that healthy adults should keep their total caffeine intake to 400 mg a day or less, from all sources, including coffee, tea and energy drinks. One scoop of either uses half of that, so think about what else you drink that day and avoid taking more than one serving.

Key ingredients compared

What ABE contains

ABE is built around a few familiar ingredients at clearly listed amounts: 4 g citrulline malate, 3 g creatine monohydrate, 2 g beta-alanine and 400 mg taurine, plus choline, niacin and vitamin B12. The 3 g of creatine is the main difference from Menace V2. Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high-intensity exercise; the effect is seen with a daily intake of 3 g. That means one scoop of ABE covers the amount linked to that claim, which could save you buying creatine separately, as long as you're happy to take it with caffeine every day you use it.

What Menace V2 contains

Menace V2 has a smaller scoop and spreads it across more ingredients. Alongside 3 g citrulline malate, 1.6 g beta-alanine and 500 mg taurine, it lists 500 mg L-tyrosine and smaller amounts of English walnut, citicoline, lentil peptides, uridine monophosphate, cacao extract and black pepper extract. It doesn't contain creatine, so if creatine matters to you, you'd need to take it separately.

Both contain beta-alanine, which many people notice as a tingling feeling on the skin shortly after drinking. It may be more noticeable with ABE's 2 g than with Menace V2's 1.6 g.

Sizes, formats and flavours we stock

ABE comes in a 375 g tub (30 servings) in 14 flavours: Baddy Berry, Bubblegum Crush, Candy Ice Blast, Cherry Cola, Cool Watermelon, Energy, Fruit Punch, Icy Blue Raz, Slush Puppie, Slush Puppie Twisted Citrus, Sour Apple, Sour Gummy Bear, Strawberry Mojito and Tropical Vibes. If you'd rather not mix a powder, we also stock ABE Energy + Performance cans (12 x 330 ml, 200 mg caffeine per can).

Naughty Boy Menace V2 comes in two tub sizes. The 420 g tub (60 servings) is available in Blueberry Pineapple, Candy Bubblegum, Cherry Razz, Energy, Fizzy Cola Bottles, Fruit Twist, Gotti Grape, Pink Lemonade, Sour Apple, Sour Blue Razz, Sour Gummy Bear and Strawberry Mango. The smaller 210 g tub (30 servings) is available in Blueberry Pineapple, Cherry Razz, Fizzy Cola Bottles, Pina Colada, Sour Blue Razz, Sour Watermelon and Strawberry Mango, such as Strawberry Mango 210 g. The 210 g tub is a sensible way to try a flavour before committing to 60 servings.

Price per serving

At the time of writing (October 2026), ABE costs £21.06 to £24.22 for 30 servings, which is about 70p to 81p per serving. Menace V2 in the 210 g tub costs £18.59 to £21.39 for 30 servings (about 62p to 71p per serving), and the 420 g tub costs £32.54 to £37.44 for 60 servings (about 54p to 62p per serving).

So Menace V2 is the cheaper option per serving, especially in the larger tub. ABE costs a little more but includes 3 g creatine, so if you'd otherwise buy creatine on its own, the gap narrows.

Other options: stimulant-free and higher caffeine

If you train late, are sensitive to caffeine or simply want a break from it, Applied Nutrition Pump 3G Zero Stimulant is caffeine-free. It provides 5 g citrulline and 3 g creatine per 15 g serving, with 25 servings per 375 g tub, for £19.77 to £22.75 at the time of writing (October 2026), or about 79p to 91p per serving.

At the other end, Skill Pre-Workout contains 300 mg caffeine and 6 g citrulline malate per 16.5 g serving, with 25 servings per tub. It costs £28.85 to £33.19 at the time of writing (October 2026), about £1.15 to £1.33 per serving. Because 300 mg is three quarters of the 400 mg daily guidance, it suits experienced caffeine users only, and the same warnings apply: not recommended for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women. Single Skill sachets let you try it first.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose ABE if you want creatine included, prefer a larger dose of citrulline malate and beta-alanine, and like a simple, short ingredient list.
  • Choose Menace V2 if price per serving matters most, you already take creatine separately, or you'd like a smaller scoop with tyrosine and a wider mix of extras.
  • Choose Pump 3G Zero Stimulant if you want no caffeine at all.
  • Consider Skill Pre-Workout only if you're used to caffeine and want a higher amount per serving.

Whichever you pick, start with one serving, don't combine it with other caffeinated products close together, and keep water to hand. Our hydration range is worth a look if you train hard. You can compare every option in our pre-workout collection.
