Your First Supplement Stack: What You Actually Need

By CellForm Team · · 1 min read

Dishes of supplement powders with scoop and capsules

Walk into any gym conversation online and you'll hear about a dozen “essential” supplements. The truth is more boring — and much cheaper. For most people starting out, three or four well-chosen products cover almost everything that matters.

1. A quality protein powder

Not because it's magic, but because it makes hitting your daily protein target realistic. A dependable blend like Applied Nutrition's Critical Whey or Reflex Nutrition's Instant Whey PRO is all you need; go for an isolate like ISO-XP if you prefer fewer calories per serving.

2. Creatine monohydrate

The best-evidenced performance supplement there is. Three to five grams daily — any brand of plain monohydrate from our Creatine collection does the job. It costs pennies per day.

3. A daily multivitamin

Not a licence to eat poorly, but sensible insurance against gaps in a busy week. Applied Nutrition's Multi-Vitamin Complex, Naughty Boy's Multi and Reflex Nutrition's Nexgen range are all solid choices, alongside vitamin D3 during the darker months.

4. Optional: a pre-workout or hydration formula

If you train early or after long workdays, a pre-workout such as ABE can genuinely help — but treat it as a tool, not a daily necessity. If you sweat heavily, an electrolyte product may serve you better.

What you can skip (for now)

Fat burners, exotic single ingredients and anything promising overnight results. Master the basics — food, sleep, consistent training — and let the boring supplements above support them.

We've grouped the fundamentals in our Gym Essentials collection.
